Courage is shown in the story, again by Aesop, of the Boy and the Nettle. Simply getting the child to carry out first aid on a small cut or bruise will help them overcome the fear of simple injuries but they should not be left to their own devices.

Courage comes in many forms and to a small child the first day at school can be frightening, don’t hide things that are going to happen, talk about it and explain it to them, if possible go through it step by step.
